The way to world’s future-low carbon life “low-carbon” is one of the most popular buzz-words in this year. Not only China but all countries focus on the topic of “low-carbon”.
Here, I’d like to share my own experience abroad with you. Several years ago, I was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the Australia about half a month. During that time, Not only did I enjoy the beautiful natural scenery there, but also I appreciated the people’s active way of protecting their environment. Do you adjust your TV screen a bit dimmer to save energy? Do you re-use water for different activities around the house? Each of these seemingly insignificant adjustments in your daily life can make a difference in saving the environment of tomorrow.
We all know that nothing is more comfortable than sitting in the warmth of a hearted car while it’s snowing and hailing outside in the freezing cold…But with global warming and even global cooling becoming more pressing by the day, not to mention your own health, take a walk ,ride a bike ,reduce your carbon footprint on the environment .It is said that tiny streams can be combined into a vast ocean, small trees can be an immense forest, and every little makes a mickle.

Just as physical strength is built through hard exercise, emotional fortitude is enhanced by adversity and conflict. Every great achievement requires a confrontation with stress, a conquest of fear. Our engineers know, there is no traction without friction. Wilbur Wright, father of the aviation world Purdue now leads, wrote, "No bird soars in a calm." Your strength of intellect and character will give you opportunities to lead, but it will be your strength of purpose, your resilience, your grit that will enable you to lead successfully, and by your example, to give new heart and strength to those around you.
There’s one sure way to minimize stress and difficulty in life: attempt nothing that’s bold, challenge nothing that’s wrong, risk nothing that’s dangerous. Those endeavors always bring disappointment, frustration, criticism, setbacks. But they also are the source of the achievements that make life fulfilling, and the even greater grit that will get you ready for the next challenge.
From opposite ends of life’s continuum, and I offer you two closing examples of the qualities I hope you have built here at this institution. Both stories involve Purdue students even younger than you are today.

Let’s just imagine that there was an old lady. What she sees was her neighbors’ being mean again while not how kind they were when they took care of her sick body. What she saw was her dog’s annoying barking while not how much loyalty it had shown.What she saw was always so depressing that it finally turned her into an unpleasant person. Think about how our life would be if we stand in her shoe.
Why don’t we focus our attention on how much we’ve already got in stead？ You know it’s really simple to do as there’s a tremendous amount of examples. Like the popular Jetpack Joy Ride on your Iphone， you can enjoy it whenever you like， whereas in some poor area people don’t even know such thing as Iphone.
Actually we should be thankful about the richness we’ve got， thankful that with each sunrise taking place we don’t need to starve to call it a day， thankful that the people we love are still in health， that we still got much to hold on. As a saying on website，” The world is tough， but I’m tougher.” What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
